MSA Cast & Crew: Coleen Santos

Manila Street Astronomer Coleen Santos’s love for the night sky began when she learned about the stars and the planets on her fifth grade. Her interest was rekindled in 2011, when an astronomical group conducted a stargazing event in their school. She was also introduced to the constellations, which is the center of her interest. It was also her first time to use a telescope, and only had the chance to view Saturn and the moon.

Coleen is deeply interested in handling optical instruments such as telescopes, and frequently engages in discussions on topics such as cosmology, astrophysics, planetary science, and astrophotography.

As one of the participants of MSA’s free telescope viewings events in April 2016, she decided to help out and eventually join MSA’s pool of dedicated volunteer astronomers.

Coleen is currently a 4th year BA Journalism student at PUP, Manila. She is also part of the official photography organization of her home college.
