MSA Cast & Crew: Michael Bartolome

Manila Street Astronomer Michael Bartolome is a 4th year BS Physics student the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Manila. He is interested in cosmology, astrophysics, planetary science, and as he puts it, hopes to one day ‘discover the secrets of the universe’. Michael regularly attends lectures conducted by the Philippine Astronomical Society and stargazing events held at the PAGA SA Astronomical Observatory in UP Diliman. He is also a member of PUP Physics Society. Michael enjoys playing computer games like League of Legends, and is currently learning how to program microcontrollers such as an Arduino. He likes watching anime and the TV series The Walking Dead. You, too, can be a volunteer astronomer! Join us!

Extending Our Reach

Manila Street Astronomers began its series of free telescope viewing events in the south, at Las P iñas City. Eventually it extended out to the North with several large event areas such as Blue Bay Walk, UP Town Center, Star City, HSBC, TriNoma, SM City North EDSA and SM City East Ortigas, etc. In the South our large setups have been at SM Southmall, SM Dasma, SM Molino, Alabang Town Center, etc. This November 2017 the MSA Core Group added three new names in their line-up: Abdur Rahman Alindao, Coleen Santos and Pablo Jun Cajigal. This step was made to help organize the growing North and South groups. Abdur will be overseeing the South events in Gary Andreassen's place (who will be away for the time being), and will be partnered by Jun. Norman Marigza will oversee the North events in partnership with Coleen. Kristine Atienza will be handling all communications with the mall setups. MSA Cast & Crew: Phoebe Pura

Manila Street Astronomer Phoebe Pura is a 5th year BS Astronomy Technology student at Rizal Technological University (RTU) and the former President of RTU Astronomy Society. She is also one of the founding members of the Guild for Astronomy Innovation and Advancement (GAIA), training astronomers in the traditional guild sense, promoting and developing astronomers in the following areas: research, outreach, instrumentation, publications, lecture and education, observation and data gathering. Phoebe's areas of interest include general astronomy, archeoastronomy, astrophysics, instrumentation, observation, and astronomy education. She is an advocate of spreading astronomy awareness, especially to children living in remote places. She has a large collection of Doraemon stuff and she likes taking pictures of random objects and events. You, too, can be a volunteer astronomer. Join us!
